Outline to Patriotism in Pennsylvania

I. As the people of America, we have the right to abide by our own laws and create our own central government.

______a. Philadelphia was the site of both continental congresses and served as the de facto capitol

______________a1. British forces threatened Philadelphia in late 1776, forcing the congress to evacuate and relocate in Baltimore Maryland

______________a2. Stayed there until spring of 1777 and remained there until Washington’s defeat at Brandyaire

______________a3. The congress moved to Lancaster and later new york

II. The British were fighting to remain control of America in their argument that British subject should obey British law

_______a. Continental forces under general “Mad” Anthony Wayne were
surprised by a midnight bayonet charged by british soldiers at Paoil Pennsylvania. This “paoli Massacre” claimed more than 50 Americans killed and at least 100 wounded from brutal fighting.

_______b. I say that given the point in time with the small population of Pennsylvania it was very significant to the people that 50 men died and more than100 injured. An event this large would really hit home with the people and would give an example of how the British were becoming.

______________b2. This was a key factor that got Pennsylvania to be a patriot colony.

IIII. patriots of Pennsylvania were rioting about the loyalists

_______a. "American men and women gathered in crowds to confront hoarding merchants, intimidate "unreasonable" store keepers, and seize scarce commodities ranging from sugar to tea to bread. Such food or price riots occurred in at least five northern states, new york, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, rhode island and Connecticut..."

- Make sure the warrants (A and inward) supports the claim (I).

- There's not really an argument coming through here...mostly information.
