• what it meant by calling the new land, ‘new England’ is that they would run their new land the same way to establish a colony but to rid of the bad habits and without the corruption
• they wanted to relate the name of their new country to keep England as an alibi, they wanted to stay on good terms. They knew that they wouldn’t be able to fight their own home country in a war, maybe scared?

• God gave them a chance to start or renew Christianity without corruption or the ‘dirty deeds’ in the new world
• Like god saving them from Egypt and giving them a new start and build a new England
• God wants them to set an example of Christianity for the people watching them in starting their new colony.

"They say Bacon's Rebellion....." re-done
When it comes to the topic of Bacon's Rebellion, most of us will readily agree that it was a recolt against the english government and their laws and restrictions in the new land. Where this agreement usualy ends however is on the question of if Nathaniel Bacon went on a killing spree against the native americans which could be seen as unnecessary. Where as some are convinced that the standard way of thinking about Nathaniel Bacon's Rebellion is that he was against the government because they were not providing the security against the indians as needed. It is often said that the actions of Nathaniel Bacon was a statement of the people.
One implication of Zinn and Steoff of Bacon's Rebellion is that they did not see that Nathaniel Bacon as a man for his people but more of a selfish man that just wanted to kill native americans so that they would stop stealing his crops and/or goods. Zinn and Steoff expressed this idea in their story, 'A Young People's History of the United States.' Here are their exact words "He probably cared more about fighting indians than helping the poor." Yet on the other hand, Nathaniel Bacon should have been seen as a leader when it came to revolting against the english. With that being said, from the text of A Young People's History of the United States says that, " Bacon's Rebellion brought together groups from the lower classes, they started an uprising because they were angry about the way that the colony was being run." If I were to attend Stanford, my education would be much higher. It is a tremendously prestigious university, well respected and known in America.
When i graduate from Stanford University School of Surgery, I hope that my patients would see me as a trustworthy, dependable doctor. I would hope that graduating from such a well honorable school would give my patients reassuring.
With Stanford being my favorite college, and my heart set on going to there, my hopes of graduating from there is not my only goal with Stanford. I see Stanford University as an opportunity to learn, make new discoveries, and share knowledge. Once I have completed my dreams of being a surgeon, I would hope to come back to Stanford to teach the new generation of medical discoverers.

The benefits to going to University of Washington is that it not only being a well respected medical school but also would take my early college credits. It would be closer to home and save me money from it being in state, and being a public university.

-Ranked 9th best Medical School in the United States
-Pac 10 champions in men's basketball 2007-2008
I like that the UCLA would take some of my early college credits. (correct me if I'm wrong) With the UCLA being as popular as it is, and having a prestigious medical school, it would help my patients trust me more as a doctor.
Briefly describe the content of the workshop and evaluate the information received.
I will admit that I was late for my workshop, because i honestly completely forgot about it! :) I was probably to busy talking with my boys from Stanford. :) Anyhow, I did manage to attend the last 10 minutes or so of the workshop discussing college essays. In that last ten minutes, this lady was PREACHING the importance of proof reading and not relying on spell check. Her closing statement in that workshop was the cheer, "PROOF READ! PROOF READ! PROOF READ!"
At the National College Fair the most useful information was wether my credits from early college would be accepted.
My main question that would remain unanswered would be, how much do my previous grades in high school weigh in when it's compared to my current GPA? In other words, how much does it matter if i didn't do as well in my last two years as I'm doing now?
My next phase of my educational and career planning process is getting organized with my materials needed to apply to colleges, such as studying for the SAT and ACT, figuring out what my essay is going to be about, what am i gonna do if i have to move out of state for school? how will I pay for school, food & board, if I'm not able to have enough time to work?

The Text Analysis of the Mayflower Compact
The Mayflower Compact was an important document that set the foundation of our country's government. It was written by those to be governed on the Mayflower back in November 1620. The writers are representing not only themselves, but the settlers of the New World. It was written to establish fair and equal laws and to be free of english laws. Also to establish better ordering, preservation, law, ordinances, acts, and constitutions. They most likely wanted this because of the taxes they were getting charged for but they had no benefit to them, yet alone had anything to do with them. They saw no reason that they should be governed by people that were thousands of miles away. The compact determined authority inside the settlement. These new settlers on the ship were writing to, "The Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord, King James." In this compact the writers were representing the settlers of the New World. This compact is not asking in any way request of approval but as a statement with no questions asked. The settlers justification was that the english government had their hands too deep in their pockets without much to offer them. Once the Mayflower Compact was written it was then signed by all forty-one male adult passenger of the Mayflower.

Thoughts of the Political Economy of the Body
To be completely honest when i first read this the first thing I thought of was the army, then i thought of slavery. I think that most things we do can be related to this quote.

American Tobacco and European Consumers
Tobacco became big in the English colonies. Tobacco was used to smoke, sniff, chew, drink, and even use for enemas. Desire to smoke was the only commercial value. Despite it’s popularity, King James did not smoke. He believed it was harmful. Another reason why King James didn’t believe in smoking is because it was an Indian custom. King James rational was that if they smoked like wild, godless, slavish Indians, why don’t they dress and act like them too? This is what he said to convince people to not smoke.
Physicians called tobacco the wonder drug. They believed that this was a, “holy drug.” They insisted that this was not only a drug for the sick but for also the healthy. It was not easy for people to have this miracle drug, it was an expensive habit to have in the seventeenth century because it was scarce. But although for being scarce, it spawned new industries, new habits, and new forms of social life. The people smoked nearly everywhere, including taverns, in smoking clubs, around dinner tables, and in bed.
Later on in the eighteenth century, the European consumers started a new trend of, “snuff.” It was not only considered fashionable but healthful.
